clay weiner directs 9-spot campaign for peta

director clay weiner juxtaposes quintessential hollywood fakery with wild natural beauty in peta’s 9-spot “agents in the wild” campaign. illustrating the tagline “hollywood is no place for wild animals,” the campaign aims to end behind-the-scenes animal abuse in the entertainment industry through online spots,  a social media campaign and a website for "wild animal artist representation, inc." .

the campaign follows stereotypically slimy devin dentler, “super agent to the wild kingdom,” as he schmoozes his clients – chimps, bats, bears, giraffes, elephants, and lions – in their natural habitats. the viewer sees the :60 spots from the animals’ point of view as dentler dials up the sleaze – scolding a bear for hibernating through pilot season, trying to sell a giraffe on horror b-movie “giraffula,” and offering a chimp courtside basketball tickets.

weiner’s tongue-in-cheek humor brilliantly captures the absurdity of wild animals as “working actors,” while beautiful cinematography from dp pawel pogorzelski underscores the radiant natural environments where these animals truly belong.
