director noam murro’s spot for monster via bbdo, ny follows an office employee as he toils through endless workdays. the melancholy tone and pacing is set by the sound of music’s “edelweiss”. walking past security, eating the same lunch at his desk, pausing at the water cooler, suffering through long meetings, making small talk in the break room, waiting on the coffee to brew and filing stacks of paper are a few of his mindlessly routine tasks with fake pleasantries as his nose slowly grows to cartoonish proportions. as he receives his walking papers, along with a shiny pen and certificate for five long years of service, his unhappiness is finally visible. he returns home to his wife who sees the false job satisfaction is written all over his face, literally, as his nose has grown to an epic pinocchio-esque length. cue monster to save our hero and others like him from the drudgery of a dead-end job.
